Our Approach
We deliver neuro-affirming therapies that are tailored to meet the needs of the individual. We strive to have he highest quality of service and are committed to maintaining this standard in every interaction.
Child Psychology Assessment
At Speppermint Journeys, our Child Psychology Assessment is built on a trauma-informed, neurodiversity-affirming framework.
We offer tailored learning, cognitive, and autism assessments that respect each child’s unique path to learning and growth. Our services extend across key areas of Melbourne’s western suburbs, including Caroline Springs, Melton, Taylors Lakes, Deer Park, and Sunbury, ensuring accessible, high-quality psychological support for families across the region.
Whether your child is undergoing learning assessments, cognitive assessments, or autism assessments, our team ensures the process is supportive and transparent.
We also offer collaborative autism exploration and psychology assessments to help families understand their child’s development within a neurodiversity-affirming framework.
By combining evidence-based tools with compassionate care, we aim to empower children and their families with meaningful insights that guide the next steps in learning, growth, and wellbeing.
For families seeking additional information about Child Psychology Assessment, neurodiversity and autism, resources from the Autism CRC or Raising Children Network may offer further guidance and support.
Before your first session
You will need to have a referral from your GP for a Mental Health Care Plan or can use NDIS funding. Your Privater Health Insurance may also cover our services so it is always best to check your policy. When you call to book your intake appointment, you will be sent intake, privacy and consent forms. Our practice manager will then schedule your intake with a clinician that best suits your needs.
What does treatment involve?
Our clinicians work to create a safe, relaxed and confidential environment for clients to enable them to feel resected, safe and seen. Our commitment to evidence based therapies and assessment tools allows us to meet clients where they are at and help them to grow and achieve positive change. We use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Attachment-based techniques, trauma therapy and play therapy. Each treatment plan is guided by the client’s presentation and goals.
What can I expect at my first session?
Your initial session will explore your current presentation, concerns, difficulties and goals. Assessment questions will be asked to ascertain your current presentation and a treatment plan will then be collaborated on between the clinician and the client.
How long does treatment last?
The number of sessions is dependent on the presenting problem and varies from person to person.
